Autism, ADHD & cognitive assessment.
For all ages.
Based in the North East of England.
Our autism, ADHD & cognitive assessments aren’t just here to tick boxes: they’re to help you understand how your brain works.
Learning how to work with your brain doesn’t have to be confusing or worrying. It should feel supportive, empowering, and as straightforward as possible – and that’s where NeuroNest Psychology comes in.
Every brain is unique, and every story deserves to be heard with care. Our assessments aren’t just about getting closer to a diagnosis (though, of course, this can be important), but about giving you the space and support to explore how you can reach your full potential, at your own pace.
We offer NICE-compliant neuropsychological assessments for all ages
ADHD, autism and cognitive assessments and consultation to give you clarity and confidence in your own neurodevelopmental profile, as well as post-diagnostic support to give you direction for your next steps
ADHD, autism and cognitive assessments and consultation to help your child understand their unique strengths and challenges, as well as post-diagnostic support to help you support them going forward

We offer post-diagnostic support as part of all of our assessments.
Before committing to a full assessment we offer a free screening assessment - this can be requested here.
Welcome to NeuroNest Psychology
When we say welcome to NeuroNest Psychology, we really mean it.
NeuroNest Psychology was founded to fill a gap in the neurodivergence space - an assessment service that offers robust and high quality assessments in a way that feels compassionate, friendly and warm. From first contact to final farewell (and at all the stages in between) we want you to feel totally welcomed, seen and supported.
More than anything, we want to make the process of assessment and diagnosis smooth and comfortable. Seeking an assessment for yourself or your child is a really big deal, so our services are completely individualised, meaning you’re encouraged to bring your whole self to the table. There’s no need to mask here.
We don’t do tick-box production line assessments . We offer a personal, individualised service. Our goal is to give you answers that make sense and feel useful, delivered in a way that’s warm, collaborative, and respectful. Ultimately, we’re led by curiosity and connection rather than checklists and symptoms.
About me
Lovely to meet you, I’m Laura.
After more than 16 years working as a Clinical Psychologist for the NHS (with a particular focus on working with people with learning disabilities and neurodivergence) I left to set up NeuroNest Psychology.
Every brain is unique, and every story deserves to be heard with care. My passion has always been helping people understand their unique strengths and chellenges, because I believe that understanding is what enables us to live life to our fullest potential. I wanted to bring that understanding to more people in a less clinical (and anxiety-inducing) setting. That’s when NeuroNest Psychology was born, in all of its warm and welcoming glory!
More than anything, I want to make the process of assessment and diagnosis smooth and comfortable. Seeking an assessment for yourself or your child is a really big deal. I founded NeuroNest Psychology to offer an assessment service that is both clinically robust and individualised, compassionate and friendly.
Outside of work, I enjoy dips in the sea, spending time with my family, and wearing a lot of leopard print.
I am an HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist - Dr Laura Surley PYL33419.
Testimonials
We can’t thank Laura enough for the amazing support and advice she gave our family. Navigating the assessment process is challenging for any family, especially with the extremely long waiting lists for CYPS and CAMHs. Working with Laura, however removed all of this stress and anxiety. From start to finish we felt extremely supported, listened to and understood. In a matter of weeks my son got the support he desperately needed. Had we waited for support on the NHS pathway he would have waited until he’d left compulsory education before he got his diagnosis. Now he understands himself better, has a toolkit that the school can use to help him in lessons and feels much more positive about the future.
Thank you Laura, we will be forever grateful for your professional, timely, sensitive support. By helping our son you in turn helped our whole family.
Laura is a credit to her profession in every way. She assessed my son for ADHD. Navigating the system is very daunting as a parent and Laura instantly made this so much easier. She guided us as a family through every step. Her commitment and communication throughout was fantastic. All questions were answered promptly and nothing was any trouble at all. She made my very apprehensive 10 year old feel at ease the minute he walked into the room. Thank you so much Laura. I can’t recommend you enough.
Your care and compassion really does shine through.
