About me

I’m Laura - Clinical Psychologist and founder of NeuroNest Psychology.

I have worked in local NHS psychology services since 2008 and qualified in 2016. My passion has always been working with people who have brains that work differently. My first NHS role was supporting children with severe and profound learning disabilities and autism. I have worked in autism diagnostic services with children, young people and adults. When I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology I wrote my thesis on what is important in therapy for people with learning disabilities. I have published research and presented at conferences on the role of carers in therapy, and adapting CBT for people with learning disabilities.

In my private work I have chosen to specialise in working with people of all ages to better understand how their brains work. My mission is to support people to explore how their brains work through specialist neuropsychological assessment. I also want to help people, and those around them, to understand how their unique profile of strengths and difficulties translates into everyday life. I believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to reach their full potential, and that good neuropsychological assessment and support can enable this.

Testimonials

We can’t thank Laura enough for the amazing support and advice she gave our family. Navigating the assessment process is challenging for any family, especially with the extremely long waiting lists for CYPS and CAMHs. Working with Laura, however removed all of this stress and anxiety. From start to finish we felt extremely supported, listened to and understood. In a matter of weeks my son got the support he desperately needed. Had we waited for support on the NHS pathway he would have waited until he’d left compulsory education before he got his diagnosis. Now he understands himself better, has a toolkit that the school can use to help him in lessons and feels much more positive about the future.

Thank you Laura, we will be forever grateful for your professional, timely, sensitive support. By helping our son you in turn helped our whole family.

Laura is a credit to her profession in every way. She assessed my son for ADHD. Navigating the system is very daunting as a parent and Laura instantly made this so much easier. She guided us as a family through every step. Her commitment and communication throughout was fantastic. All questions were answered promptly and nothing was any trouble at all. She made my very apprehensive 10 year old feel at ease the minute he walked into the room. Thank you so much Laura. I can’t recommend you enough.

Your care and compassion really does shine through.
