The NeuroNest Psychology Approach

We are a neuro-affirmative practice and adopt a strengths and rights-based approach. This means that we:

  • value the lived experiences of those seeking assessment or therapy work with us

  • see the strengths in neurodivergence

  • advocate for the rights of those with neurodivergence

Our assessments are completed by qualified and experienced clinicians with relevant qualifications, training and an NHS background.

We use gold-standard assessment measures to ensure that our assessments are compliant with NICE guidance.

We do our assessments in person.

Our reports are written in accordance with NICE best practice guidance.

We pride ourselves on these core values which drive our practice:

  • approachability - we welcome you from your first contact with us and want you to feel at ease

  • transparency - we provide clear, transparent information about us, our processes and costs

  • adaptability - we take assessment and therapy work at your pace

  • respect - we want to understand you as a whole person, with your strengths and difficulties, struggles and triumphs

About me

I’m Laura - Clinical Psychologist and founder of NeuroNest Psychology.

I have worked in local NHS psychology services since 2008 and qualified in 2016. My passion has always been working with people who have brains that work differently. My first NHS role was supporting children with severe and profound learning disabilities and autism. I have worked in autism diagnostic services with children, young people and adults. When I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology I wrote my thesis on what is important in therapy for people with learning disabilities. I have published research and presented at conferences on the role of carers in therapy, and adapting CBT for people with learning disabilities.

In my private work I have chosen to specialise in working with people of all ages to better understand how their brains work. My mission is to support people to explore how their brains work through specialist neuropsychological assessment. I also want to help people, and those around them, to understand how their unique profile of strengths and difficulties translates into everyday life. I believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to reach their full potential, and that good neuropsychological assessment and support can enable this.
